The Popular Cat
Marvin was a very popular cat. When he wasn’t being scooped up by the humans, the other cats wanted to play with him. All of the cats and humans wanted his attention because he was the smallest cat in the house and he had a big personality. Marvin could get into tight spaces and he did not care about following rules. He jumped onto counters, knocked things over, and created new games to entertain himself. The other cats joined in on Marvin’s activities while the humans watched, both annoyed and amused by him. Sometimes Marvin did not mind the attention and sometimes he did mind, especially when he was trying to sleep!
One of his sanctuaries away from the crowd was the catio. The catio was crowded during the warmer months, but during the winter, it was a good hiding place for Marvin. The only drawback was that it could get very chilly and Marvin could never escape anyone for too long.
Luckily for Marvin, the humans bought a Christmas tree just as the weather was getting too cold for Marvin to go outside. Marvin was six months old and it was his first Christmas tree. He smelled the outside smells on the tree and climbed up. The other cats tried to follow him, but they were too big and clumsy. The humans thought he was too cute to scold and let him stay in the tree.
Marvin loved the tree so much that the humans kept the tree well past Christmas for him. When the needles shed and the tree dried out, they moved the tree to the catio so Marvin could climb up whenever he wanted to get away.
